Set Up New Internet, TV or Mobile Service

Setting up service is easier when you separate three decisions: what is available at the exact address, what your household actually needs, and when the connection must work. Better Connect is a nationwide, independent internet concierge that helps compare options and coordinate new internet, TV, mobile and smart-home requests. The provider, not Better Connect, supplies the connection and issues the service bill.

How Better Connect helps

Better Connect is an independent nationwide internet concierge. We compare eligible options from Xfinity, Astound, Verizon, Spectrum, AT&T, Brightspeed, EarthLink, Kinetic. Availability varies by address. Your provider manages billing, account changes, repairs and cancellation.

1. Check the full address, not just the ZIP code

Have the street number, street name, apartment or unit, city, state and ZIP ready. A ZIP search can identify possible providers, but neighboring buildings and individual apartments can have different networks. A provider appearing in your area is not a guarantee that it can install service in your unit.

If you are moving into a new building, ask the property manager about approved wiring, access to the utility room and any existing bulk internet agreement. Tell the concierge about these restrictions before placing an order; paying for a second connection may be unnecessary.

2. Choose speed around simultaneous use

List how many people stream, work, learn or game at the same time. Video meetings, cloud backups and sending large files make upload speed important as well as download speed. A gigabit plan does not automatically fix poor Wi-Fi coverage.

Ask whether the connection is fiber, cable or fixed wireless and compare the advertised upload speed, equipment and any data allowance. Tell Better Connect about work-from-home requirements, a detached office or a large home so the recommendation includes coverage, not just a speed tier.

3. Review the complete monthly quote

The live examples below come from Better Connect’s managed promotion catalog. Compare the recurring internet price with the offer duration, later price if disclosed, equipment, installation and taxes. Ask for a written order summary and save it before accepting.

Do not treat a free first month as the ongoing rate. AutoPay, eligible payment methods, a qualifying mobile plan or new-customer status may be required for advertised savings. Xfinity price guarantees and Verizon Fios offers have their own conditions; a promotion on one plan does not apply automatically to another.

4. Schedule the right installation

Self-installation is useful when the home already has a working compatible line. A first-time connection, damaged outlet or missing fiber terminal may require a technician. Confirm the shipping address, equipment arrival date, appointment window and whether an adult needs to be present.

Arrange property access before installation day and keep an existing connection until the new one works if uninterrupted service matters. A requested date is not a confirmed appointment until the provider accepts it.

5. Activate, test and save your records

Use the provider’s official activation instructions. Rename the Wi-Fi network, set a strong unique password, update the gateway if prompted and test both a wired connection and Wi-Fi in the rooms you use. Verify TV logins and any separately ordered mobile activation.

Keep the order number, confirmed rate and term, equipment serial numbers and reward instructions. If the first bill differs from the quote, those records help the provider identify a missing credit or partial billing period.

Frequently asked questions

Does Better Connect provide the internet itself?

No. Better Connect helps compare and coordinate service nationwide. Your selected provider installs or activates service, manages the account and bills you under its agreement.

Is every listed provider available at my home?

No. Xfinity, Astound, Verizon, Spectrum, AT&T, Brightspeed, EarthLink and Kinetic serve different territories. Your full address and unit must be checked before availability or an offer can be confirmed.

How soon can I get connected?

Timing depends on address readiness, equipment shipping and technician availability. Share your required date early, but wait for the provider’s confirmation before relying on an appointment.

Will I need a credit check or a deposit?

Requirements vary by provider and product. Ask what identity verification, credit inquiry, deposit or upfront payment applies before authorizing the order; do not send identity documents through ordinary chat.

Can I order TV or mobile with internet?

Better Connect can help compare those services too. Ask for separate line items and eligibility rules, because mobile activation, devices and streaming subscriptions may have their own charges and agreements.

Is there a separate fee for Better Connect’s concierge?

Better Connect offers its comparison and setup guidance at no additional cost to the customer and may be compensated by providers. Provider service, equipment, installation and other applicable charges still apply.
